CPNL Catalan A1 and A2: course levels and preparation guide
Understand beginner Catalan outcomes, course expectations and a practical readiness plan using the CPNL framework.
CPNL beginner pathways develop real-world reception, interaction and production. Level completion is best understood through what you can do, not just which grammar chapters you have seen.
What A1 work supports
Beginners handle identity, greetings, simple personal information and immediate needs with supportive interlocutors. Sound-spelling links and formulaic interaction build early independence.
What A2 adds
Learners expand routine exchanges, descriptions, everyday services and simple connected accounts. Listening across natural but controlled speech becomes increasingly important.
Prepare and choose a level
Use current CPNL placement guidance, dates and official descriptions because course organization can change. Before class, practise a self-introduction, numbers, schedules and repair phrases; assess all four skills.
